はじめての日本!アメリカ人英語教師の名古屋滞在記 An English teacher’s thoughts on Japan 01/18/2020

Level 1: Posts will be between Level 1 (Beginner) and Level 5 (Advanced).

New heights.

I am 182 cm. This is a little bit above the American male average which is 177 cm. This is much above the Japanese male average which is 171. This means that I am not very tall in the USA, but I am fairly tall in Japan.

Most of the time I like being tall. It is nice to be able to see far in crowds or across a bar. It is also nice to feel big sometimes.

However, this can be a problem for a few reasons:

1. Subway handles hang at your chin.

2. Sometimes steps feel too short.

3. Some doorways are too short. This is the biggest of the problems. Wearing a hat is dangerous because I don't notice the doors that are too short.
